Recipe for Cluster Beans/Titkio Mitkio/Gavaar Bhaji without Coconut

Ingredients

  • 500 Gms Cluster Beans (either hand broken or Cut into 1 inch sized pieces)
  • 1 Large Potato (cut into cubes)
  • 2 Medium sized Onions (chopped fine)
  • 1 Medium sized Tomato (chopped fine)
  • 2 Green Chillies (chopped fine)
  • 1/2 Tspn Turmeric Powder
  • 1/2 Tspn Chilly Powder
  • 4-5 Curry leaves
  • 1 Tspn Vinegar
  • 1/2 Tspn Sugar (optional)
  • Salt (as per taste)
  • 3-4 Sprigs Fresh Coriander (chopped fine)
  • 1/4 Cup Water
  • 1 Tspn Oil

Instructions

  • In a vessel, add all the ingredients mentioned above(except fresh coriander) , mix it well, cover the vessel with a lid and place it on medium flame
  • After about 10 minutes, open and check that the water hasn’t dried off. Give it a mix and cover the vessel. Of the water has dried off, add a tbspn of water
  • Allow this to cook until the potatoes are fully cooked
  • Once the potatoes are fully cooked, add the fresh coriander and mix it well 
  • Turn the flame to high and allow the water to dry out completely 
  • Once the water dries out, turn off the gas flame and enjoy your Bhaji nice and hot either with some Hot Chapatis or as a side dish to a wholesome meal!
