Prep Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 20 minutes
Total Time 35 minutes
Servings 6 People

Ingredients

  • 2 Cups Whole Wheat flour
  • 1/2 Cup Water
  • 1 Tspn Salt
  • 1.5 Tspn Pure Cow's ghee
  • Oil For deep frying

Instructions

  • In a Wide bowl, add the Whole wheat flour, ghee and salt
  • Knead the flour by adding water little by little till it forms into a nice soft dough. Knead it for at least 5-7 minuntes
  • Cover the dough in an air tight container and keep it aside for about 30 minutes. If u have time on hand, let it rest for 1 hour
  • After the resting time, make 4 big balls out of the dough
  • Flatten each ball on a floured surface
  • With a rolling pin, flatten the dough to make a big circle, just like you would make a chapati but much bigger
  • Dont make the circle too thin or else the pooris won't Puff up
  • Now take a knife and cut the circle as shown in the pic
  • In a skillet, add oil for deep frying and place it on medium high flame
  • When the oil turns nice and hot, add each piece into the oil
  • Remove the Pooris on a kitchen napkin to drain out any excess oil
  • Follow these steps to utilise all the dough
  • If you do not wish to make pooris of all the dough, place the remaining dough in an airtight container and keep it in the refrigerator. You can keep it until the next day. You can also make chapatis out of the same dough
