In a small mixer grinder, add all the ingredients except the water and coconut
Make a fine paste out the ingredients added. If it's not rotating, in the mixer add 1 tbspn water, just for the paste to have some liquid to rotate in the mixer
Once the paste is formed, add the scraped coconut and grind to a fine paste.
Note:-The consistency SHOULD NOT be like that of a Curry masala. it should be more firm Check for salt, sugar and vinegar/tamarind.
If required, add it as per your taste and rotate till it has blended well with all the other ingredients. Rotate till done
And Tadaaaaa.... your Green Goan Chutney is ready!!
Empty the chutney in a bowl
If using immediately, add some butter to it, give it a nice mix
If you're making sandwiches, apply chutney on two slices of a sandwich bread, join them together and enjoy the Taste of a Simple yet super flavorsome Green Goan Chutney Sandwich
Notes:-1) To make my chutney sandwiches more fun, sometimes I add the following in between the two slices of my chutney sandwich:--A fried egg-Or A Boiled egg cut into pieces-A slice of cheese-OR A couple of slices of Ham-or A couple of slices of salami/mortadella-Or small bits of chicken franks(Or you can add an entire chicken frank if using a hot dog bread)-or A slice of bread, spread with tomato ketchup on both sides(that becomes a ribbon sandwich)-Or Fresh cut veggies like Betroot, Tomato, Cucumber, Boiled Potato, Onion....ooooooh i'm drooling as I'm writing this!!! 2) Chutney can be stored in the fridge in an air tight glass container/jar for up to 7 days.3) This chutney can be eaten with Rice as well. For that, after the chutney is made in the mixer, you will have to empty it in a bowl and add some water to it to make it like a curry consistency and enjoy it with your Rice.(Once the water in mixed, you cannot preserve it. It will have to be consumed immediately). Enjoyyyyy :)
